SALE OF VAN DEN TWEEL SUPERMARKETS TO ALPHABET HOLDINGS

Advisor to seller

All five Caribbean supermarkets of the Van den Tweel Group on Curaçao, Aruba and Bonaire – locally known as ‘Van den Tweel Supermarkets’, ‘Ling & Sons IGA Supercenter’ and ‘Voordeelmarkt Warehouse Bonaire’ – have been acquired by Alphabet Holdings. Investment group Alphabet Holdings is led by businessman Gassan Azan, who owns the MegaMart supermarket chain in Jamaica.

Mr. Gerard van den Tweel decided to sell the Caribbean supermarkets because of his age. “Over the past twelve years, I have built and operated the beautiful Van den Tweel Supermarkets (previously known as Albert Heijn supermarkets); For the continuity of the companies, I have found in Gassan Azan the right partner”, says Van den Tweel.

Hemingway Corporate Finance acted as exclusive financial advisor to Van den Tweel.
